Alarming Video Captures Point Officers Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
One police sergeant that leaped to the help of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knife attacker has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Courage.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a blade to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in the area in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.
"Officer stabbed," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashcam recording made public by the agency depicted Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.
He collided with the officer who lost balance and went down to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the pavement even though being repeatedly struck with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a open target, ending the struggle to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide help on my throat now, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple deep cuts to his throat and additional injuries to his limbs and body, while Sergeant Foster suffered cut injuries.
Authorities stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his colleague's blood loss before paramedics came.
The latest recognition comes after the law enforcement team won organizational Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the police federation award from the regional union branch in April 2024.
They additionally received a Area Valor Recognition in mid-2024.
"The actions of each policeman ultimately rescued each other and resulted in no civilians suffered any harm."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, according to authorities.
